Companies can apply through any existing SBA 7(a) lender or through any federally insured depository institution, federally insured credit union, and Farm Credit System institution that is participating. Other regulated lenders will be available to make these loans once they are approved and enrolled in the program.
If you bank with a sizable commercial lender, there’s a good chance they’re already working with the SBA. Here’s a list of over 1,800 approved SBA lenders.
Officially, lenders were supposed to begin processing loan applications as early as April 3, 2020. In reality, ramping up a program of this caliber takes some doing, and very few–if any–lenders are accepting applications as of yet.
